Tears by Sugarplum Fairies

Darkenin Heart

Sugarplum Fairies prepare the way for their first new release in many years, a special collection of re-imaginings titled Altar Songs 1998-2021, coming out December 3rd, 2021 via Starfish Records.

Tears is the fourth single from the album, a wistful piece with a dark shoegaze vibe, characterized by Silvia Ryder's expressive croon. The song comes with a sentimental video composed of vintage-looking footage of a sunny day in the life of a father and daughter in Los Angeles.

Tears was produced by Marlon Rabenreither of Gold Star, and according to Ryder it is about "the slow death of a marriage." She continues: "“Tears” is the only brand-new song on Altar Songs 1998-2021, co-written and produced by Marlon Rabenreither of Gold Star. It is kind of a crooner-style ballad that disintegrates towards the end."
