Volt is the latest track from the upcoming album Rift by Icelandic experimental duo Hugar which will be released on January 21st, 2022 on XXIM Records/Sony.
The atmospheric song comes with a video directed by Iceland-based videographer Blair Alexander Massie, and it's inspired by the fault running through Þingvellir, the national park located 40 km northeast of the capital, which prompted the band to think about what happens when things are pulled apart, including songs, ideas, even entire countries.
“There’s something almost magical about a powerful force literally ripping the land apart, and new life appearing in the space that’s created,” says Hugar's Bergur Þórisson. “We wanted to translate that scenario onto these great, temporal shifts and upheaval in our world and ask: What happens? There must be something new that grows from them.” adds the band's Pétur Jónsson.
