Slightly Hopeful by Powder Pink & Sweet

Cris Verso, who had been involved in the Los Angeles music scene for many years, formed Powder Pink & Sweet soon after her mother passed away. Verso, who comes from an artistic and musical family, discovered a channel for more creative thinking through the project.

The artist has previously worked with a sonically diverse lineup of musicians varying from ska/reggae (The Cover-Ups, The Twi-LItes, Hi Fever) to punk (The Stalkings), and takes a fresh direction in her recording career with Powder Pink & Sweet, an organic endeavor given her natural love for eighties new wave.

"After my mom died In 2015, I got the courage to develop it and get more serious," Verso says.

Verso has also experimented with shoegaze in collaborative efforts with the band Sleeping Car and Rafe Mandel (of Polar Goldie Cats and Best Coast).

Slightly Hopeful is a nostalgic dreampop cut from the forthcoming album by Powder Pink & Sweet, titled Little Stories, out November 4th, 2022. The band's dreamy indie shoegaze sound is perfectly established in this piece, which will undoubtedly be appealing to fans of the genre and bands like Slowdive, Lush and Tamaryn.
