Babel Map are a band out of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, who make music that is frequently rich and heavy, and is influenced by the artful side of shoegaze, dreampop, post punk, and alternative psychedelia. The integration of all these aspects on their most recent album, CANCEL THIS!, is excellent.
The band really makes good use of their melodic side on the focus song, SLIME TIME LIVE, and moves up the grit as well, producing a fairly unpredictable and always riveting result. The experimental detail may seem to be ingrained in the band's genes, but Babel Map's songs also have a very earthy sense of familiarity.
