The music of Tetsu the Phoenix presents not only an exploration of melody but also displays an examination of different sonic elements, drawing from genres such as desert rock, black metal, doom, and shoegaze, resulting in a very distinct fusion.
Within their first album, See You Around, the band puts together a series of songs that are influenced by Haruki Murakami's The Trilogy of the Rat series of books. Full Moon on the Wane creates a nostalgic atmosphere through a melodic approach which blends perfectly with grittier shoegaze sounds.
Tetsu the Phoenix effectively encapsulate the essence of the protagonist's trip to Hokkaido in Murakami's A Wild Sheep Chase, as well as the tumultuous state of mind he experiences beforehand. The band effectively conveys a profound sense of melancholy and introspection through the music, and have successfully achieved their objective of presenting a timeless work through a new outlook, utilizing different artistic means.
