Amnesia by The Vacant Lots

Darkenin Heart

Amnesia is the first single from the anticipated new album, Interiors, by Brooklyn post punk band, The Vacant Lots. The album is expected to come out on October 13th, 2023 via Fuzz Club. Jared Artaud and Brian MacFadyen deliver their darkest and most innovative work yet.

Artaud describes Amnesia: "It’s about dealing with duality and integrating the conflicting feelings within a relationship. It’s about feeling dissociative and getting burned by the fire. Then coping with how this inevitably leads to the dissolution of the relationship. This is a mantra for all the songs on the album."

Accompanying the release of Amnesia is a visually appealing video directed by Alexander Schipper, featuring model and actor Mateen Ismail.

Regarding the video, Artaud adds: “Alex Schipper is a master of taste. We worked together on some videos for our last album Closure. He’s a great artist to collaborate with and really gets our minimalist aesthetic. A mantra for the band is ‘through darkness, light.’ Alex translated that beautifully in the Amnesia video featuring Mateen Ismail, who really completed the vision.”

Maurizio Baggio (The Soft Moon, Boy Harsher) mixed Interiors, returning as a collaborator after having worked on the band’s last two albums, Closure (2022) and Interzone (2020).

Once again, The Vacant Lots achieve a minimalist and moody atmosphere through their use of danceable beats, well made and edgy instrumentals, and distant vocals. This combination results in an overall dark tone that engages, unveiling the band's ability to create mesmeric and evocative music.
