Japan On My Mind by Golden Hours

Darkenin Heart

Golden Hours have unveiled a new video and single edit for their track Japan On My Mind. The song is taken from their self-titled debut album, which was released in the Spring through Fuzz Club. The band is spread between Berlin and Brussels, and consists of musicians who have been part of renowned bands like Gang Of Four, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Tricky, The Fuzztones, The Third Sound, and Fifty Foot Combo, among others.

The group's lineup comprises Hákon Adalsteinsson (guitar/vocals), Rodrigo Fuentealba Palavacino (guitar), Tobias Humble (drums/vocals), and Wim Janssens (bass/keys/vocals).

Japan On My Mind is a thrilling song which brings a strong sense of melancholy, immersing in its warm and comforting melodies, and the band's performance is heartfelt.

On Japan On My Mind, Janssens says: “This song sounds like Tindersticks meets The Flaming Lips playing together in a bar in Tokyo on a rainy night. Eerie synths and sub-bass are topped off with minimal guitar strokes and riffs, followed by an outro that pulls this 4-minute melancholic trip straight into the void.”

On the Golden Hours project and the entire debut album, the artist comments: “The musical backgrounds of each member are pretty broad but somehow when we come together there’s a pretty clear definition of what our music should sound like. There’s a beautiful friction between the noise we produce and the love for melody that seems to overtake at just the right moment. There never seems to be a lack of ideas when we come together. In silent agreement, every idea gets tried and will be further developed into a song or skipped in a heartbeat. No time is wasted. It all happens pretty automatically.”
