Man Proposes, God Disposes by Sprain

Darkenin Heart

Sprain is a Los Angeles quartet, formed in 2018 by a group of like-minded students from Calarts. The band consists of Alex Kent on guitar and vocals, April Gerloff on bass, Sylvie Simmons on guitar, and recently joined by Clint Dodson as the percussionist.

Since their formation as a band, Sprain have dedicated their art to refining their experimental sound, and prepare to unveil their new album The Lamb As Effigy or Three Hundred And Fifty XOXOXOS For A Spark Union With My Darling Divine on September 1st, 2023 through The Flenser. Man Proposes, God Disposes is the first single and the album's opening track.

The single becomes a fascinating introduction to the album and establishes the overall mood. It encompasses a wide range of vocal styles, including howls, impassioned spoken word, and melodic crooning. In addition, Sprain intertwine a visceral sonic mixture, incorporating elements of sound collage and creating intricate compositions which fuse elements of various genres.

Despite the numerous challenges encountered during the creation of the album, Sprain demonstrated great perseverance, and utilized the knowledge gained from these struggles as fuel to overcome obstacles and bring The Lamb As Effigy to completion.
