My Heaven Is a Dance Floor by The Julies

Darkenin Heart

Dreampop band The Julies have released a new single following their comeback. My Heaven Is a Dance Floor draws inspiration from the memories of singer Chris Newkirk's wedding reception, where a dance party took place.

The single is “sort of an imagining of an inclusive, celebratory afterlife akin to our best moments on the dance floor,” as Newkirk comments.

My Heaven Is a Dance Floor blends the elements of jangle pop and dreampop into a cohesive and atmospheric composition, creating a bittersweet yet hopeful and lively sound.

The band's guitarists, Alex Yost and Patrick Zbyszewski, showcase great guitar work, complemented by the bass line from co-producer Kyle Pulley (formerly of Thin Lips). It is another example that reaffirms The Julies' strong reemergence in the underground scene.
