Good Intentions is the first single from the upcoming album, Sirens at Golden Hour, by Phantom Handshakes, which releases on August 21st, 2024. Like the rest of the album, the song was written, recorded and mixed by Phantom Handshakes at their respective home studios in Manhattan and New Orleans.
"The song explores how, despite our best intentions, we sometimes fall short of achieving the goals we set out for ourselves, possibly due to bad days, anxiety, or mental and physical issues," the band comments on their new track. "And It's perfectly okay to take a step back, proceed at a slower pace, adjust our objectives. However, this can be difficult to accept in a society that values efficiency and success as top qualities."
Phantom Handshakes' dreampop sound is particularly distinctive, and their latest piece stands out. The song conveys a profound sense of loneliness and despair through an enticingly melodic sound, suggesting a feeling of misdirection and frustration.
