High Marks release In Twilight, the first single from their new album Soured which comes out on October 16th, 2024 via Propitious Artifacts.
Soured was created by multi-instrumentalist and producer D Haddon - also of experimental noise rock band Yellow Bulb. The album showcases a wide range of sonic textures within a concise runtime.
Haddon collaborates with David Mansfield of Atlanta-based post punk band Stranded, who contributes lead guitar and keys, and co-wrote several tracks. The new album also features guest appearances from Sara Storm (NOLA), Minnesota’s psych duo Sisters of Planetaria, Travis Kuhlman (DUG, Yellow Bulb), and Colorado's neo-chanteuse Mandy May.
Soured examines the complexities and ever-changing dynamics of human relationships. The first single, In Twilight, has a distinct post-industrial and darkwave atmosphere, accentuating the darker and grittier aspects of High Marks' sound. The track is a descent into palpable darkness, representing a bold musical direction for the band.
