Drifter’s lead track release from the new album Grigori is the eight-minute massive piece The Silence That Follows which crushes with intensity yet leaves space for introspection. Rich and haunting, the track invites reflection and its atmosphere captivates from the first moment.
Driven by ethereal post metal atmospheres, searing vocals, and meticulously layered instrumentation, the track showcases a band deeply fluent in the language of heaviness. The extended runtime is indulgent as it is purposeful, allowing the song’s emotional weight to fully unfurl.
Recorded over 18 months with producer Eric Graves (The Esoteric, Roman Numerals, Anakin), Grigori is an epic nine-track journey through vast heavy rock sounds.
"The creation of this album took a lot and at times felt both effortless and also only possible through sheer force of will," offers Drifter vocalist/bassist Dean Edington. "'Grigori''s songs were written and refined over the course of the most turbulent times of my life; there is grief and sadness and anger and joy in every single note."
