Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete. by ††† (Crosses) Reflects the Shape of Darkenin Heart

Darkenin Heart

After a lengthy hiatus, Crosses, the collaborative project of Deftones' Chino Moreno and Far’s Shaun Lopez, returned in October 2023 with the stunning Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete. The album marks a bold evolution in their sound, fusing darkwave, synthpop, and modern electronica into a moody yet cohesive collection of tracks.

Songs like Pleasure and Found pulse with lush synth textures, while Ghost Ride cuts through as another highlight with a sharp, cinematic edge. Guest appearances elevate the album further, with El-P bringing a distinct hip-hop flair to Big Youth, and Robert Smith lending his signature touch of melancholy to Girls Float † Boys Cry.

The album title, drawn from a phrase Moreno’s family used during his childhood, ends with Delete. — a poignant nod to abrupt goodbyes and the impermanence of things.

Balancing darkness and light, Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete. is a testament to Crosses’ artistic growth and brave exploration of new sonic ground. It’s a journey through emotion and atmosphere, resulting in a work of haunting beauty.
