Apogee by Madeline Goldstein

Darkenin Heart

Emerging as the next highlight in her expanding repertoire, Madeline Goldstein’s Apogee sets the stage for her forthcoming album under Artoffact Records, expected late 2025.

Built with intensity, Goldstein refers to the track as deeply intimate, hence its underlying melancholy. As usual, the artist's ability to blend feelings of purification with movement captures the spirit of summer heartache.

Madeline Goldstein comments on the track: “This particular track is the first and only cowrite between Matia Simovich and myself thus far in our collaboration. We built it from the ground up in the studio (and literally from the grounds surrounding the studio, dragging wrenches across chain link fences to create the percussive elements etc). Apogee was a true effort of everyone in the studio, but ultimately the most personal song on the record for me, in terms of the narrative.

“In its most abstract, Apogee is about that moment or shift, when you feel you’re at the edge or the end of something, and all the ways in which the narrative of “that thing” can transform and mutate in your unreliable memory. It’s about the fear of the unknown; it’s about having no control against the inevitable and submitting. It’s a crying on the dance floor kind of thing.”

“there’s an emptiness to living, in the certainty of time, what had started now is ending, what is ending is sublime.”

Goldstein's creative partner, Matia Simovich, reflects: “Madeline and I have had a wonderful creative partnership over the last couple of years. With “Apogee” it was an incredible experience to write something from the ground up, in the studio and in the moment, and it’s remarkable what came out of that chemistry.”

“It was a new step I wanted to explore writing something alongside Matia in the studio,” Madeline adds. “I knew what we were capable of creating after our handful of years working together and figured it could only get better if we wrote together in that moment and I let myself be open to the collaboration.”

With its vulnerability and allure, Apogee creates a defining moment in Goldstein’s evolution as an artist, being an evocative bridge between introspection and collaborative growth. Her forthcoming album, quite possibly, will redefine her past strengths.
