Immersion brings together two creative forces of post punk innovators Colin Newman (Wire), Malka Spigel (Minimal Compact), as well as Matt Schulz (Holy F*ck, Savak & Lake Ruth). In recent years, the trio focused largely on their collaborative Nanocluster projects, but a sense of renewed energy has brought them back into the heart of the actual Immersion project.
Their latest work channels the electricity of performing live back into the studio, shifting from meticulous refinement to something more instinctive and immediate. Their expected album, WTF??, set for release on September 26th, 2025 via ~swim, is structured around eight tracks, half instrumentals, half vocal pieces, each charged with the urgency of a world in upheaval.
Leading the charge is the first single, Use It Don’t Lose It, taken from the upcoming album. As the group themselves explain: "An expression of us both together, saying the same thing for ourselves & for others. The words are so direct they need no explanation. Anyone could join in with the chanting!
"What the f*ck?? What the f*cking f*ck??"
In a time of division, and uncertainty, the band poses the question back to the listener: "How do you react? How do you feel? How do you soundtrack?"
