J Todd Dunnigan & Michelle Witmer are True Swans. The duo first crossed paths in Fort St. John, BC, in 2014. A late-night piano session after a show sparked a years-long collaboration, an intimate blend of his resonant baritone and her crystalline soprano. From dressing rooms to hotel rooms to home studios, they captured songs born from the simple joy of creating together.
Crucify Me draws deeply from eighties new wave and classic goth influences. As the opening track of the Mortal Paralysis EP, it channels the moody elegance of that era with a driving bass line, sharp staccato guitars, and hauntingly poetic lyrics. The track features Scot Alexander (Dishwalla, Marcy Playground) on guitar and bass, bringing a textured refinement to the sound. With amazing production and aching sentimentality, Crucify Me stands as a modern echo of classic goth’s dark romance.
