Left Behind marks the first single from Painted Vein’s forthcoming second full length, arriving as a follow up to their acclaimed debut Dripping Only Black.
Written, recorded, and mixed by Andrea Volpato at Fox Studio Seattle, the track surges forward on fast aggression, as its restless momentum collapses into purifying choruses. The production is excellent, while the mastering by Giovanni Versari (Muse, Afterhours), amplifies the violence and the vulnerability embedded in the track.
The song is a blunt rejection of industry artifice, nepotism and hollow connections. Volpato's songwriting is confrontational and personal, as the song channels an almost ghostlike appeal to his late father and cousin, invoking purity and honesty in direct contrast to the decay the artist is pushing against.
