Scam Likely by Edging

Darkenin Heart

Chicago art rock quintet Edging operate with the kind of urgency that feels direct. The band formed when singer Faith Callaway and guitarist William Sallee crossed paths with saxophonist Tyler Meneese while working at a landscaping company. Rounded out by bassist Jimi Hargraves and drummer Adam Hatcher, Edging channel post punk through a restless lens, with sharp edges and no reverence for comfort.

Their new offering, Scam Likely, pushes further into that tension, reinforcing the band’s post punk attitude while sharpening its target. The track emerges with irritation and resolve, rooted in the daily absurdities of late-stage capitalism and the mental violence of being reduced to data and money.

As the band puts it: "Scam Likely is about the countless telemarketer calls we receive on a daily basis. In a world that money over welfare is the status quo, this song highlights our frustrations of being treated as consumers instead of humans. Constantly being berated and mistreated. This song is ultimately about bringing down the man that tries to keep us down."
