so long by Essencer
February 05, 2026
LA–based alternative shoegaze band Essencer draws inspiration from acts such as Slowdive, The Cranberries, Mazzy Star, and Alvvays, according to their own words. The project began as a bedroom collaboration between guitarist Alec Nelson and singer-songwriter Lee Jenkins, before evolving into a full band with the addition of drummer Sam Partridge and guitarist Sal Huerta, who now contribute to the group’s writing, recording, and live performances.
Essencer’s sound sits comfortably within the dreampop and shoegaze spectrum, combining immersive guitar layers with Jenkins’ airy vocal delivery. The band balances atmospheric textures with a strong melodic sensibility, creating music that feels expansive and intimate.
Their latest release, so long, highlights this balance. The track is a melodic and introspective piece that explores the vulnerability and quiet tension of uncertain love. Built around reverb-drenched guitars and dynamic, driving drums, the song gradually unfolds into an emotionally rich endeavor.
The song was recorded at MAKE Studios in Los Angeles.
