cerberus by Youth Valley

Darkenin Heart

Youth Valley came together in Athens in 2019, forging a sound that combines melancholy with hazy pop textures and shoegaze warmth. Their new single, cerberus, is also the first glimpse of their forthcoming album, as passive aggressive as it gets. According to the band, the new "album is going to be heavy emotional and at times unapologetically dark."

Loud guitars and drifting vocals shape a mood that feels both wistful and immediate, as the composition moves steadily, guiding its gentler moments toward something more expansive. Beneath its glow sits a reflective core of memories, missteps, and the desire to move past them.

They describe: "This song is an honest confession of a broken person trying to find forgiveness in a journey of mistakes and cruelty caused by anger. - I dare only dream of it, but even dreaming feels horrifying. I picture a 3 headed guardian caring for me. I am part of it. I feel the warmth of a light that I cannot reach.

"We kept a part of this song’s creation session in the studio where we talk as we play in the final track, as a reminder that what we do in a moment is an irreplaceable experience that cannot be replaced by AI or flawless studio editing."

cerberus marks an emerging shoegaze outfit expanding its range, embracing richer textures and lasting emotion while preserving the precision that keeps their sound so immediate.
