San Francisco’s Octavian Winters unveil Elements of Air, a striking fusion of deathrock and shadow‑lit post punk atmosphere. Produced by William Faith and arriving just ahead of their Western US dates with Pink Turns Blue, the single distills the band’s signature palette, composed of immediate grittiness, post punk tension, and moody darkwave in an overall cohesive and hard hitting outcome.
Frontwoman and lyricist Ria Aursjoen says: “… 'Elements of Air’ is about how we see the world, our chosen frame of reference, and how much power that holds over us — including the power to destroy things we value. The direct inspiration was someone I knew who chose to view the world through a lens of hate, and how that ultimately cost the friendship.”
Guitarist Stephan Salit adds: “…'Elements’ really exhibits my love for tension and release. Dissonance and harmonic resolve. This one is pure alchemy…”
With their 2023 debut EP The Line or Curve still resonating, the band now moves toward their next chapter, once again collaborating with Faith for a 2026 followup.
Octavian Winters are Stephan Bryan Salit (guitar), Randy Gzebb (drums), Jay Denton (bass) and Ria Aursjoen (vocals, keyboards).
