In Strange Places by Vivid Bloom
June 07, 2026
Boston-based Vivid Bloom, comprised of vocalist and guitarist Erika Hansen, bassist Tracy Putnam, drummer Alison Murray, and guitarist Dan Parlin (DN-PN), have become known for their compelling live performances. The band continues to push their sound into new territory and have been steadily building momentum since their formation in 2022.
Rooted in shoegaze, the four-piece draw from the genre’s atmospheric foundations while embracing heavier sounds and a more expansive approach to songwriting. In Strange Places is their new song that captures that balance.
Delicate melodies drift through dense layers of guitar, while moments of restraint give way to bursts of distortion and force. There’s a constant sense of movement throughout the track, as if it's searching for solid ground without ever fully settling.
The song was inspired by the strange conditions of modern life and the ways people navigate an increasingly fragmented reality. Surrounded by endless information, competing narratives, and digital noise, it asks what happens when our attention, beliefs, and sense of self are constantly being pulled in different directions. Instead of offering answers, the music sits with that uncertainty.
