Megafauna by Immersion

Darkenin Heart

Across decades of creative evolution, Colin Newman and Malka Spigel have continued to reshape their creative language, resulting in work that feels connected to their history while remaining firmly rooted in the present. Their upcoming album as Immersion, What Is Lost Will Return, is another step in that ongoing process.

Previewing the record is Megafauna, a brooding instrumental that highlights a different side of the album. Built around a deep dub-infused groove, the track recalls Immersion’s origins in instrumental music and serves as a striking contrast to some of the record’s more song-oriented material.

Described as a snapshot of the present moment both musically and lyrically, What Is Lost Will Return sees Immersion further refining their vision. Contributions from Holy F*ck drummer Matt Schulz and AK/DK’s Ed Chivers add further depth to an already expansive sound.

Speaking about Megafauna, Malka & Colin said: “the title reflects the music - umbering large creatures moving slowly to the beat and are drawn to the sound of a primordial piper”.

What Is Lost Will Return arrives on September 4th, 2026 via their label swim ~.
