Lana Del Rabies began by sampling female pop artists into melancholic noise pieces. Annihilate, her new offering, reveals just how far that concept has mutated. Her most immediately approachable track still inhabits a world of existential brutality, examining human life beneath the constant shadow of catastrophe.
Its power emerges from the tension central to her work. Muted gothic details are set against a backdrop of gleeful sonic maximalism. Music and visual world-building remain inseparable, forming an experience that is beautiful, threatening and unearthly.
Annihilate follows the 2025 EPs Le Temps Viendra and Omnipotent Fuck, both released through her own Feral Crone Recordings, and precedes a collaborative studio album with former Hissing members due in 2027.
