Hattiesburg, Mississippi band Somedaze revive their earliest creative identity with Black Horse, the first single from their forthcoming debut album. The project brings together members of dreampop outfit Goth Dad, returning to music they first began making while still in their youth.
Somedaze initially emerged as a side project led by vocalist and guitarist Chandler Dunaway alongside drummer Colin Cameron. Their self-titled EP arrived in early 2019, capturing the band at the beginning of its development before attention shifted elsewhere.
Black Horse does not attempt to recreate that period, but reflects everything learned in the years since and carries the weight of musicians returning to an idea with greater experience and a more clearly defined sense of purpose. It's a melodic piece of shoegaze‑tinged Americana, rich in wistfulness and carried by a strong melodic sensibility.
With a busy run of performances and their first full-length album approaching, Black Horse marks the point where Somedaze’s past finally reconnects with its future.
