Piece For Illia by Ryuichi Sakamoto & Illia Bondarenko

Darkenin Heart

Piece for Illia is a dramatic lament, a moody new number and a collaboration between legendary composer Ryuichi Sakamoto and Ukrainian violinist Illia Bondarenko. The track is part of the compilation For Ukraine (Volume 2), curated by composer Hollie Kenniff and released by Headphone Commute.

For Ukraine (Volume 2) features ambient and neoclassical composers from around the world who have come together to raise funds to support immigrant children and families affected by the war in Ukraine.

Illia Bondarenko has been uniting musicians from a bomb shelter in Ukraine, most prominently a violin flashmob where Ukrainian violinists were joined by top violinists from all over the world, featuring 94 violinists from 29 countries.

Sheet music for the new piece is available under the creative commons license for anyone to play. The piano score, violin score, and full score are available to download here.

The benefit compilation features contributions from over 20 artists like Helios, Sophie Hutching, Rachel Grimes, Julianna Barwick, Benoît Pioulard, and more. 100% of all the proceeds (excluding Bandcamp's revenue share and payment processor fees) will be donated to the International Rescue Committee to support displaced children and families with vital supplies.
