The Entangled Remix EP by Dot Allison is a five-track EP comprising remixes of songs from her critically acclaimed 2021 album Heart-Shaped Scars. Saint Etienne, who have links to Dot dating back to their Heavenly era and common ties to iconic producer Andrew Weatherall, as they both emerged through the thriving UK indie dance scene of the early nineties, deliver a new experimental version of One Love on the EP.
“I had loved Saint Etienne since my early days as an artist,” Dot explains, “and can recall clearly the first time I heard and immediately adored their version of ‘Only Love Can Break Your Heart’.”
“One Love is such a beautiful, fragile song,” Saint Etienne describe, “the only place we thought it could go was more ethereal, as if it was in the air, like seeds from a dandelion clock getting tangled up with passing radio waves.”
Allison speaks on the new EP: “I titled this ‘The Entangled Remix EP’ to tie in with “Heart-Shaped Scars,” but also in a way to show the slightly disparate influences on the EP spanning decades from when I was first influenced by dub music & did a remix for St. Etienne, to working with Anton in Berlin, and now to the Anchoress.”
