Following the January 2022 release of her seven-track debut EP, Norwegian musician Silje Espevik's Yndling project is now issuing a Deluxe edition with two additional tracks, Fringe and Plants.
Yndling comments: "It’s been such a privilege to release my EP and it’s been both weird and so nice to finally have it out there in the world. Now I’m super excited to share two new tracks that I feel really completes it.”
Plants is a soulful dreampop song that deals with contradictory sentiments in a crisp and melodic way.
The artist describes: “Plants is about breaking up in a slow kinda way, and the feeling of being too close to see things clearly. It’s about the conflicting emotions of wanting to still be held in high regard by your partner, but pulling away at the same time, and the terrible sensation of losing closeness to what used to be your favorite person. I wanted to have that feeling with the production as well, and Adrian Einestor Sandberg, who I’ve been working with since I started Yndling, did such an amazing job with me on this. I love the gritty drums, and the repetitive guitar-loop over the chorus really hammering in that feeling of suffocation and almost addictive phase as you’re struggling to let go of someone”
Yndling (Deluxe) is out on May 20th, 2022 via Kerry On The Cake.
