Folian was formed by Portland, OR based musician Devan Stefani. In order to produce a particularly meditative and coherent musical atmosphere, Folian combines elements of drone, shoegaze, metal, pop, and experimental noise, as well as visual projections.
Devan Stefani frequently records and performs as an individual creator, although the project has lately expanded to include collaborators. David has been involved in a number of projects, including Canadensis, Flood Peak, Ramprasad, and most recently A Stick and A Stone, The Stargazer Lilies, and Drowse.
Beau Ideal is a new single from Folian that takes a more electronic approach than the previous guitar-driven work, and it's full of intensity and anguish.
The artist comments: This work is rooted in detaching from the destructive conventional concepts of assumed roles in a society regarding gender, relationships, and physical appearance. It is about shaking off the dead skin that shields one from exposing their true form, and staking the claim for unbounded expression and reinvention.
