Blurry Image of an Island by YEARNS

Darkenin Heart

Yearns is the experimental/ambient project of Andrew Foley of An Heirloom and Grids/Units/Planes and Joel Saunders of Spirit Bunny and A Country Practice, based in Meanjin/Brisbane. Besides their work in Yearns, Foley and Saunders have separately appeared on releases on Room 40 and hellosquare Records, collaborating with artists like Erik Griswold (Clocked Out), Andrew Tuttle and Shoeb Ahmad, and their music has also been featured on ABC TV (The Heights), and played on radio across Australia and beyond.

Yearns will release their self-titled EP on False Peak Records in July, and they have published the first track, Blurry Image of an Island, an ambient piece that demonstrates the duo's inclination for experimentation through mellow instrumentals, resulting in a rather palatable outcome.

The EP will be available as a visual version with a stereogram booklet, comparable to'magic eye puzzles' from the 1990s. Each track on the EP has a tessellated stereogram image. As we listen to the atmospheric soundscapes, staring into each abstract pattern, a 3D image will form from the blur.
