Helicóptero by Hickeys

Darkenin Heart

The members of Madrid quartet Hickeys met in college and realized their art and sound, drawing inspiration from a variety of sources and combining tenderness with fervor. The band is made up of Marta Kunitsa (guitar), Ana Erice (guitar), Maite Barrena (drums) and Martina G. Compairé (bass). Helicóptero is the band's fourth and last single before the release of their highly anticipated first album, Fragile Structure, out on September 16th, 2022.

Helicóptero is a song that experiments with fluctuating patterns, moving fast and slow, and is reinforced by a voice that conveys a sad and bleak message.

"When we thought of this song we just wanted it to sound broken.

The deepest cracks open up as soon as Helicóptero begins.

We wanted to cut, to trim, to quarter, to disturb.

With this song, the derangement gushes without being contained and the waves of madness overflow without hesitation to culminate rushing towards nothingness.

The fear of sinking, of emptiness, of confronting uncertainty.

May this song disturb you."

"We dream that this song will give you epilepsy."

On the visual front, the cover is a different angle of the already viewed sculpture by Andrea Muniáin, photographed by Álvaro Pereña and finished off with the design by Martina G. Compairé. The video which comes with the song was created by Diego whose experimental filmmaking is based on appropriationism and collage of moving images.

"We heard about Diego because he had worked with other bands like Dharmacide and we thought he would be perfect to provide the song with a unique visual universe," the band say. "Without a doubt, he has managed to give the song a visual dimension that enhances and completes it".
