GIFT, a new psychedelic rock quintet from Brooklyn, has released Gumball Garden, the first single and video from their upcoming album Momentary Presence, a work that shows bandleader TJ Freda as a skilled songwriter, as well as an inventive home-recording engineer.
The band has a distinct voice that combines elements of shoegaze, dreampop, noise rock, and post punk, and their first single is characteristic of that mix. Momentary Presence is contemplative album, a reflection on overcoming the worry and self-doubt that we all experience at some time in our lives.
Over the previous three years, Freda has gone through a lot, such as relocation, heartache, and turmoil in the affairs of those near him. Gumball Garden sounds as inviting as much as it is a stirring listen with tendencies toward psych rock formalism.
Jessica Gurewitz, Kallan Campbell, Justin Hrabovsky, and Cooper Naess compose the rest of the band's lineup.
Momentary Presence will be released on October 14th, 2022 on Dedstrange.
