On October 28th, 2022, dark post punk band Secret Shame will publish their second album Autonomy. After the thriving post punk of the previous offering Luxury Bitch, the band return with a track which sounds warmer and tenderer, but also introduces some astounding soul exposure from its creators.
Despite being at times abstract, and the reality that the band's singer and lyricist Lena finished writing the lyrics while entering the recording studio, Color Drain contains some of the most sincere lyrics in Secret Shame's body of work up to this point. The song addresses their protracted battle with anorexia and explores how it's to be disoriented and apathetic while experiencing the world after recognizing that they needed but refused to accept help.
