Braulio Almeida is an accomplished musician who composes music for game, television, and advertising soundtracks. During his studies at Villa-Lobos, a music school in Rio de Janeiro, he met Rômulo Collopy (bass player), and they both met Shelly Modesto (vocals) on Orkut. The three friends got together at random to jam, and it took nearly ten years to shape their first album These Sunny Days which came out in 2015.
Shoegaze guitars, an assortment of post-production effects, and electronic components make up a sound reminiscent of bands like My Bloody Valentine, Curve, and the Cocteau Twins.
Even before the pandemic, Devilish Dear began remotely recording new songs for their delayed second album Army of Nothing which is nearing completion. The album had 13 to 15 songs that were rejected as recording progressed. Their record label insists on releasing the new full length on vinyl, but that is expected after a crowdfunding campaign is launched.
Evidence, Devilish Dear's new album's first single and video, is a vibrant and colorful track with the density of shoegaze and the band's excellent musicianship creating a magnificent listen.
