The Empty Threats are an up and coming five-piece post punk/noise rock band from South Australia's Kaurna Land/Adelaide. The band has gained attention as a live act in the Adelaide music scene, offering a right combination of influences from several genres.
Boys in the Gutter is the band's first single from their debut album, Monstertruck Mondays. The song has a distinct blend of post punk and noise rock energy, as well as acerbic lyrics and a good bit of angst.
The band describe Boys in the Gutter as "a song that outlines the struggle in America at the moment regarding abortion rights, and on how harmful a decision made by a select few can be towards bodily autonomy rights, not only just in America."
The track was produced in the group's home studio by guitarist Matt Shultz, and mastered by Matt Colton of Metropolis Studios (Shame, Thom Yorke etc.).
