Gold Rush by Collapsing Scenery

Darkenin Heart

Collapsing Scenery bridge the divides between politics, art, music, and films, flitting between them all with a similar comfort as they travel the world. Relative to this, the band's upcoming album, A Desert Called Peace, borrows heavily from a differing range of musical styles, including dance and techno, post punk, britpop, darkwave, industrial, jazz, funk, and soul.

The title of the album is taken from Tacitus' description of the legendary Caledonian chieftain Calgacus and his analysis of Roman conquest: "To ravage, to slaughter, to usurp under false titles, they call empire, and where they make a desert, they call it peace."

Lead single, Gold Rush, takes a tactfully existential stance toward the biodiversity and climate crises. The album's lyrics cover a wide range of subjects, including Catholic integralism, the so-called "New Right," the strange period between the end of one era and the beginning of the next, and the ways that technology shapes life.

A Desert Called Peace, which will be released on March 10th, 2023, features appearances by Tippa Lee, L'espiral, RugiRugz, and Avalon.
