Late 2022 saw the start of the new project Joyful Forfeit, which is currently working on a debut EP scheduled to be released in Spring 2023. Joyful Forfeit uses post rock's expansive and powerful guitars, indie music's melodicism, and the sentimentality of emo rock to musically depict the feelings of frustration of the human mind.
Clawing At The Back Of Your Eyes combines outsized post rock sounds with personal, emo-influenced lyrics, and was inspired by a struggle with paralyzing migraines. Beyond the difficult subject, the track has a satisfying and therapeutic efficacy.
The song is a contemporary take on indie rock which transforms familiar sounds into an enjoyable, and soothing new blend, with the vocals in the lead, trembling with frailty and deeply felt decisiveness.
