As musician Mark Magick's lone endeavor, Give Up To Failure was founded in 2017. Within two years, the project was transformed into a band with a full roster. Requiem Records, an independent Polish record label, released their debut album, Burden, in 2020. Give Up To Failure published their sophomore album, Cocoon, on February 20th, 2023.
The new album evidently changes from the group's original sound that was present on their debut album. Cocoon consists of 10 songs with a wide range of genres, including shoegaze, post rock, and post metal, as well as passages from post punk, ambient music, and dreampop.
Damages is the album's third single. This dark-leaning song with emotive performances along with an overall enchanting atmosphere presents themes of self-destruction.
Give Up To Failure describe the sound of their new album as: "From chaos in head to peace in the heart."
