ocean blues by dayaway

Darkenin Heart

The second new single of the year from dayaway, the ethereal indie/dreampop pop project of Amber Renee and Graham Marsh of CLAVVS, is the wonderful ocean blues, a song about forbidden need which opens impressively, with shining slide guitars and an expansive orchestra.

This new song comes after dayaway's recent single, hot blue summer, another hooky and refined indie pop cut with the group's characteristic hazy guitars, and memorable melodies.

Amber wrote of the track: "There is a pleasure in longing that I think is inherent to the female gaze. This song dives into the idea that longing can be enough. The ocean often represents love in my songwriting— it’s this vast, unknowable, mysterious thing. So to have the ocean blues is to be lovesick, to want someone that you just can’t have. 'ocean blues' is about letting it be enough to love from a distance, knowing you’ll never have more than that, and being satisfied in the wanting."
