A couple from Kentucky make up the DIY new wave/post punk band ROD. Yr Song is part of the duo's new album, Rot and Fruition.
ROD's sound takes ques from new wave and post punk in a prominent manner, as well as from darkwave and dreampop.
The band comment on the track: "Yr Song is a somber yet hopeful new wave song, inspired by a bitter cold and a sunny sky - common to see on any given winter day in Lexington, KY. Equally polarizing is a lyrical theme derived from the struggle to realize one self while tugging the ties of ego and love."
Yr Song has a lot of charm and emotion. In this track, as well as in the rest of the album, ROD's innovative and genre-blending creativity is well showcased.
