Girlfriends and Boyfriends, coming from Vancouver, Canada, are a new wave group that merges influences from post punk, synthpop, and darkwave. Their sound encompasses a friendly pop vibe while incorporating a series of musical elements. The band released their full length Fallacy of Fairness in 2021 from which the track Stephaney emerges as a new single, paired to a very good new music video.
Stephaney serves as a heartbeat tribute to a friend the band lost from the Vancouver community in 2017. "Stephaney had a kind and creative soul," Girlfriends and Boyfriends describe. "She touched the lives of many people, and is greatly missed."
The song blends impassioned guitar melodies and powerful vocals, together with pulsating basslines and rhythmic energy. Its emotionality is absolutely inescapable.
