Land of Heart's Desire by Silent Mass

Darkenin Heart

Silent Mass is a new dreampop project that initially took shape as a solo endeavor in Los Angeles before the pandemic, under the creative helm of Ammo Bankoff. With the release of several attention-grabbing tracks, Ammo later joined forces with audio engineer and guitarist Robert Duncan, ultimately relocating to New York to collaborate with drummer and producer Alex Posell. As a result of the demand for live performances, the addition of bassist Kevin LoBiondo completed the band's lineup.

Their new single, Land of Heart's Desire, embodies the essence of Silent Mass's unique blend of dreampop and shoegaze. It is a hauntingly melodic track, characterized by ethereal vocals and lush guitars, elaborately blends together elements of dark post punk and wistful dreampop.

Ammo explains: "I wrote the song while reading W.B. Yeats who was a member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Yeats wrote a play entitled ‘The Land of Heart’s Desire’ about unfulfilled aspirations and how they can inadvertently affect those around you. This led me to consider the consequences of avoidant behaviors in my own life and uncover the source of my escapism."

Land of Heart's Desire is the first single release leading up to Silent Mass's debut album, The Great Chaos, set to come out on June 21st, 2024 occurring with the Summer Solstice.
