Split by Russian Baths

Darkenin Heart

Russian Baths is a New York-based band which draws its name from the iconic co-owned bathhouse, channeling the complex and layered histories of the city itself. Consisting of Jess Rees (Activity), Luke Koz, and Kyle Garvey, the band released their debut album, Deepfake, in November 2019. Their upcoming second album, Mirror, is scheduled for release on June 14th, 2024, via Good Eye Records, with Split serving as its lead single.

The band comments on the new track: "People copy people. People are copies of people. People avoid their reflections. People are reflections of other people. People don’t look at people unless they really want to, even if you give them money."

Split possesses a mesmeric quality, characterized by moody tones and ominous lyrics that become a stark reminder of the perpetual presence of the past and the looming possibility of being replaced. Lifting from a blend of shoegaze, dreampop, and post punk influences, Russian Baths create a distinct sound that resonates with beauty and significance.

Split is produced and mixed by Jeff Berner (Psychic TV, Activity, Stuy) and mastered by Sarah Register (Protomartyr, Kim Gordon, Wye Oak).
