Wet Hot Summer is the lead single from Chopper's forthcoming album Shock Pop - The Album, set to release on November 1st, 2024 via Pink Cotton Candy Records. The track presents a unique fusion of nineties eurodance energy mingled with post punk tones, and a horror-inspired atmosphere. Through its dark style, Wet Hot Summer examines themes of love, lust, and identity, exploring the contradictions between emotional connection and detachment.
The track’s haunting nature mirrors its conceptual complexity, as the artist questions the genuine nature of of romantic desires. Mille Justisen, also known as Vamilla, a prominent figure in the Danish music scene, stars in the music video and provides vocals on several tracks from Shock Pop - The Album. The video draws inspiration from films like Lukas Moodysson's Lija 4-Ever and David Lynch’s Inland Empire, expanding the song’s haunting mood.
Wet Hot Summer balances melancholy with cynicism, and becomes a glimpse into Chopper's evolving music, a blend of seductive sounds and thought-provoking themes.
