Drunken Carousel by Mannequin Flowers

Darkenin Heart

Mannequin Flowers is a rising band from London's scene. They seamlessly blend atmospheric dreampop sound with the raw energy of indie rock, all encased in a distinct aesthetic which appears cinematic and sophisticated. Their latest release, Drunken Carousel, is the band's second single—a dark, shoegaze-infused track that delves into the affecting struggles of drinking culture, wrapped in shimmering guitars and moody soundscapes.

Lead vocalist and guitarist, Isadora, penned the poignant lyrics, drawing inspiration from the evocative poetry of Yeats and Baudelaire. The haunting melody was a collaborative creation between Isadora and lead guitarist Luca, who also created the track's guitar part.

Isadora explains: "The song is about the struggles of conforming to drinking culture, the feelings of guilt that come after drinking too much, and the pressure to keep doing it even when you want to stop. It reflects on the negative experiences of drinking, including not remembering how nights have gone."
