Brazilian indie label midsummer madness is marking 35 years of DIY music history with an expansive two-part compilation, Not Like You, which showcases 65 cover songs by 53 Brazilian bands. The project is divided into two volumes, each with its own theme that reflects the eclectic spirit of the label.
Volume 1 gathers 31 artists from midsummer madness who have reinterpreted tracks released by their fellow labelmates over many years of great music, and Volume 2 takes a different approach, featuring midsummer madness artists who cover songs by musicians they admire outside of the label, paying tribute to their heroes through new perspectives.
Devilish Dear, returning to the scene after a long break, present their version of The Breeders’ 1993 song Invisible Man, diving into the song’s core, and reworking it with layers of shoegaze guitars and dreamy electronics. Band members Braulio and Shelly bring new atmosphere to the original composition while maintaining the essence of it.
Invisible Man is released as a preview single along with Pelvs’ cover of Stellar’s Titanium White, with both songs offering fresh, introspective twists.
