Bright Like Stars was founded in November 2023 by Neil Burkdoll (of Whimsical, LoveBlind, and Dirty Dead) and Craig Douglas (of Neonach and Omega Vague). Their aim was to step beyond the pure shoegaze sound of their main bands, producing music inspired by shoegaze while blending in fresh influences from other genres.
Their latest track, Reeling, channels the "glide guitar" style reminiscent of My Bloody Valentine, but with a heavier edge inspired by bands like Torche and Glia, all wrapped up in their unique twist. Reeling appears on their debut album, Reflections, which pays homage to the diverse sounds and bands that shaped them in the 1990s, a time when every track felt profoundly significant.
"Picking a first single to announce Bright Like Stars to the public was a bit tough," Bright Like Stars admit, "since every song is influenced by another band/genre from the early 90's."
