Electro-punk band The Guilt from Malmö, Sweden, are back with a vengeance, releasing a brand-new version of their track Dance to the Revolution that hits harder than ever. First unveiled in 2016, the song has been reimagined for present time with renewed energy and the fearless purpose "to not take part in depression, regression, or oppression."
Since Lizzy joined the lineup, The Guilt’s live shows have exploded, and fans haven’t stopped shouting for Dance to the Revolution. The song’s message and melody always cut deep, but singer Emma Wahlgren knew the old version didn’t quite capture its urgency.
“The production held it back — it didn’t match the energy I felt singing it. I had a very ambiguous relationship with the old version,” Emma says.
“We are people pleasers. For the people by the people. Also, as Rosa said — if we can’t dance, it’s not our revolution,” Emma and Lizzy explain.
The new version of the song was produced with Alain Steffler at Cat Crossing Studio, with additional layers of bass synths that ground the track in The Guilt’s signature electro-punk sound. Dance to the Revolution (2025 version) is out via Icons Creating Evil Art.
“We know we are a part of the problem. We hope we can be less of a problem for the global majority and more of a problem for the billionaire minority,” the band shares.
