GHOST COP’s brooding darkwave track A SHOT IN THE DARK came out nearly two years ago in its original version. The band saw an opportunity to honor the song by turning to kindred spirits Houses of Heaven, the San Francisco-based EBM outfit known for their atmospheric sound and rhythmic intensity, to breathe new life into the track.
The result is a remix that presents a whole different aspect of the song. Gone are the soaring synths of the first version, and in their place, a pulsing bassline drives the track forward with urgency. GHOST COP’s signature ethereal vocals remain, but they’re now tethered to a darker and grittier overall sound. It’s a version fit nocturnal cityscapes, where elegance meets with unease
To match the new direction of A SHOT IN THE DARK, GHOST COP crafted a new visualizer, re-shot through the grainy lens of a CRT TV to reflect the remix’s analog-digital tension.
