Blue Livingroom is an underground shoegaze project which has drawn attention for creating a sound that feels both deeply personal and obscured. Their 2021 album, For Keeps, receives a new life with a cassette release through Sister Cylinder, bringing renewed attention to the project.
A mysterious, enveloping pulse is created throughout the record by thick, low-lit synths that rise and fall over programmed beats. Soft emotional bits are delivered by tender, reverb-drenched vocals that fade in and out before vanishing back into the mist.
For Keeps sounds straightforward but discreet, and definitely deserving of exploration.
